Mayan Calendar and 2012
You may have heard about 2012 as some sort of apocalyptic event, somehow forecasted long ago by the Mayans. There is a range of viewpoints from a variety of sources, so here’s an overview of what 2012 is about and why it might happen.
Everybody understands the natural cycles of the Earth within our own solar system.
Everybody knows that the Earth orbits the Sun and orientation of Earth and its distance from the Sun defines our climatic cycle, spring naturally follows winter and so on.
Other planets in the solar system have different cycles, for example Mars orbits the Sun every 2 years compared with Earth’s 1 year orbit, but the principles are the same.
Similar cycles also exist at the galactic level. In other words, our solar system as a whole is also moving through space and its position is constantly changing relative to the rest of the galaxy.
So in the same way that Earth’s climate is affected by its distance from and orientation to the Sun and the impact of the Sun’s solar radiation, the solar system’s ‘climate’ is also affected by its distance from and orientation to the rest of the galaxy, including the galactic core (and potentially the Alcion star system as Alcian is an excpetionally large, relatively local star).
Now every 26,000 years, Earth and the solar system are aligned with the galactic core. Based on fossil records, the solar system appears to be significantly affected by the impact of radiation from the galactic core. The likely reason is that the galactic core has a massive concentration of stars relative to the outer galactic area where our solar system is situated.
The Mayans appeared to know this information because they produced the “Mayan calendar” describing events over thousands of years. The best known date in the Mayan calendar is 2012, which is when great changes are predicted to occur on Earth.
I suggest the reason for these changes is not a specific, divine intervention because “we are evil” as traditionally portrayed in the religious or apocalyptic sense, although the actual impact on Earth may be apocalyptic.
However, it is possible that the event is part of a ‘divine plan” that is inherent in the design of the universe.
If it does occur, it will be part of a normal and predictable galactic cycle that is fundamentally no different to the same cycles that occur within our own solar system.
The prediction is that during 2012, the orientation of the solar system relative to the galactic core will be such that the radiation from the galactic core will reach a critical point and cause major changes to the solar system and Earth.
Prior to 2012, the solar system appears to have started to undergo an “energetic shift”. This means the radiation levels of the planets is increasing without an explanation for this from traditional physics.
A couple of possible explanations:
- We have entered an area of space that has a geater concentration of material and energy (space is not an empty vacumn). The impact of this material on the Sun and planets will cause a variety of changes including climatic, geological and potentially socio-political upheavals.
- There is another, as yet undiscovered planet in the solar system that has a very long orbit i.e. the same 26,000 year cycle as the Mayan calendar. The close approach of this planet to the solar system will cause an energetic change in the Sun and planets due to its creation of “torsion waves”.
Some people assert that the energy levels have already increased – certainly there are measurable changes to the Sun (magnetic fields) and Earth in (rotation speed) and that the resultant changes are already in evidence with recent social, economic and climatic changes.
Depending on the information source, the results of 2012 are described as:
- an uplifting in human consciousness, often called ”Ascension”
- magnetic pole shifts and/or geological upheavals . . . . there’s evidence in Earth’s fossil records to suggest this has happened before
- a “dimensional shift” whereby the Earth progresses onto the next phase of its evolution . . . . this viewpoint says there are a series of levels or vibrations that are part of a Universal evolutionary process
- biblical type punishment for our sins . . . . a favorite of Old Testament devotees and religious fanatics
There is a lot of often conflicting information on this subject which I’m steadily working through to develop a better understanding of possible 2012 impacts.
